Important Notice: Nansha Port Congestion and Shipping Delays

The Nansha Port has been completely jammed these past few days —
and that’s no exaggeration. The yard is almost out of space for containers.

On the night of October 25th, two ten-thousand-ton cargo ships collided and sank in the Pearl River Estuary.
The main channel was closed, and now only a temporary narrow channel is open.
As a result, large vessels can’t get in, smaller ones are busy with salvage operations,
and the entire waterway is severely congested.

At Nansha, the container yard is full, and both pickup and return operations are under strict traffic control.
The terminal has even issued a notice that starting October 30th,
only three appointment slots per day will be available:
🕘 9:00 AM, 🕛 12:00 PM, 🕒 3:00 PM.
Once the quota is filled, the system will be closed —
and repeated attempts to grab a slot may even lead to account suspension!

What’s worse, the vessels unable to enter Nansha are now being diverted to Shekou and Yantian,
causing overflow and congestion warnings at those ports too.
Some in the industry predict that this bottleneck may last until around the Lunar New Year.
